Saul Kornik
CEO

As the CEO, Saul’s role is to ensure the organisation performs through inspirational leadership and by setting a compelling vision made manifest in storytelling and strategy. This includes enabling AHP to fulfil its purpose by ensuring it is funded to deliver pragmatic solutions. Saul is a strong advocate for leadership through culture – culture being “how we do things around here”. AHP's culture is expressed in the behaviour of the people at AHP, as well as leaders acting as role models who influence these group norms. At AHP the culture has been codified so that the organisation can fulfil its mission to plan for, find and keep the workforce to deliver health for all.

Kate Thiers
COO

Kate is AHP's Chief Operations Officer. She ensures organisational sustainability by defining and managing operational infrastructure, including people, systems and finance architecture. Kate also makes sure the appropriate architecture is in place to enable strategy implementation. She has eight years of corporate experience with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, Comcast, Johnson & Johnson and Andersen Business Consulting in the US and UK. She has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School in Pennsylvania, where she graduated magna cum laude, and an MBA from Oxford University.

Louise Chennells
Chief Innovation Officer

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”

Louise is AHP’s Chief Innovation Officer. She manages the stakeholder relationships that enable the organisation to operationalise its purpose and ensures that any contractual obligations that are committed to by AHP are well thought through, innovatively planned and managed. Louise has extensive experience in international investment banking, financial planning, strategy, forecasting, off-shoring, designing and implementing systems. She has worked with the most senior stakeholders across divisions and geographic areas, providing analytical insight into their business and offering management support to plan and align their vision with the wider organisation.

Kedumetse Mvula
Retention Manager

"Strive to achieve your goals with passion, hunger and drive"

Kedumetse manages the Retention Programme to positively affect retention of healthcare workers to meet contractual obligations made to partners. AHP currently runs the programme in nine districts and one sub-district across South Africa. Kedumetse has worked in private, public and NGO health sectors and has a background in radiography, the management of TB and HIV programmes, and the implementation of health systems. Prior to working at AHP, she was an Operations Systems Manager at Ndlovu Care Group.

Katia Da Silva
Finance Manager

"With power comes responsibility"

Katia Da Silva is AHP's Finance Manager. She manages the financial team, systems and processes to ensure financial information and practices are timeous, compliant and accurate. Before joining AHP Katia worked at Soul City where she was the Finance Manager.

Nokuzola Gumede
Recruitment Coordinator

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit"

Zoe is a Recruitment Coordinator at AHP. She manages the submission of compliant documentation to ensure successful processing of applications by regulatory bodies. She comes to the role with an understanding of the push and pull factors for doctors from her experience in conducting the Community Service Officer survey in 2012.  

Tracey Hudson
Recruitment Officer

"Carpe Diem"

Tracey is a Recruitment Officer at AHP. She recruits healthcare workers to meet the contractual obligations made to AHP's partners in several districts in KwaZulu-Natal. Tracey needs very little introduction, as a founder of the fore-runner to AHP, an ex-manager within AHP and a very well-known personality in rural Human Resources for Health.

Nonhlanhla Radebe
Retention Officer - Zululand

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"

Nonhlanhla is a Retention Officer based in Zululand in KwaZulu-Natal. She positively affects the retention of healthcare workers to meet contractual obligations made to partners and is the single point of contact for AHP district activities. Before joining AHP Nonhlanhla worked at Performance Solutions Africa as an HR Administrator handling recruitment, job contracts, induction, training and development, and performance management. She has an Honours degree in HRM.

Mandla Masiza
Recruitment Support Team Leader

"My passion is to serve. To serve God, my Family and Community"

Mandla is a Recruitment Support Team Leader at AHP. He effectively oversees activities of Recruitment Coordinators to support the meeting of contractual recruitment obligations. Mandla studied Marketing at the Border Technikon. Before joining AHP Mandla launched a recruitment office for rural students wanting to study medicine at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

Busi Masombuka
Recruitment Coordinator - Foreign Workforce Management Programme (FWMP)

"You must remain focused on your journey to greatness"

Busi is a Recruitment Coordinator at AHP. She works at Foreign Workforce Management at the Department of Health. She manages the submission of compliant documentation to ensure successful processing of applications by regulatory bodies. She recieved her certificate in HR Management from College Campus, and is currently busy with her national diploma in Tourism Management. 

Funani Ntontela
Retention Officer - OR Tambo

"We are out to celebrate the roots of the spirit of fire"

Funani is a Retention Officer based in the OR Tambo district in the Eastern Cape. He positively affects the retention of healthcare workers to meet contractual obligations made to partners and is the single point of contact for AHP district activities. Funani trained as a professional nurse at Frere Nursing College and has a Honours degree in Public Administration from the University of Stellenbosch.

Esther Dlamini
Recruitment Team Leader

"Always make the decision to do that which benefits others, that way you're bound to help someone out along the way"

Esther is AHP's Recruitment Team Leader. She effectively allocates and oversees activities of Recruitment Officers to meet contractual recruitment obligations. When asked about her work, Esther said: "I love rural areas, people there still know what it means to live life regardless of what you have. Rural communities are often neglected and yet they have so much to offer, even with the very little they have."

Obakeng Lekoko
Retention Officer - Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati

"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others and if you can't help others, at least don't hurt them"

Obakeng is a Retention Officer for the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati district in the North West. He positively affects the retention of healthcare workers to meet contractual obligations made to partners and is the single point of contact for AHP district activities.  He has a national diploma in Municipal Administration, a BTech in Public Management and an Honours degree in Public Management from Stellenbosch University. Before joining AHP Obakeng worked at Deloitte as a Project Administrator.

Therese Hansen
US Liaison

"Leap and the net will appear"

That’s what Therese tells doctors as she urges them to take their talents to Africa! As our US liaison, Therese helped launch AHP in North America in September 2008. She expands our programme's reach at several target conferences each year, including the gatherings of family physicians, emergency physicians and internists. She is based in Seattle.  

Portia Harvey
Retention Administrator

"Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence" – Vince Combardi

Portia is the Retention Administrator. She provides administrative and logistical support to the Retention Manager. Portia comes to us with a wealth of experience in executive assistance and administration from organisations such as AURUM and Nestle LTD.
